History
Southdown House, Lewes Dovetail Homes was formed in 1983 with the aim of providing distinctive homes of character in Sussex, one of the loveliest parts of England, yet within easy access to London.

Attractive farm buildings are converted, old houses renovated, and new homes designed to suit the particular site. They are built in the traditional manner by craftsmen who take pride in their work, and careful planning provides comfortable living in a luxurious home, with high standards of workmanship.

It is our policy to remain small and not to compete with the volume house builder in order that we are able to concentrate our energies and expertise on producing the finest possible homes. We are able to offer a very unique and personal service by working in close cooperation with the purchaser, ensuring that the completed home fulfils individual requirements.

Stud Farm Stables, Polgate
Award Winning Developments
In 2003, Dovetail Homes entered the The Stud Farm Stables, Polegate, for the Sussex Heritage's Large Scale Residential Award, and won.

The development was a conversion of the 1890 racing stables of the Duke of Devonshire, into 10 mews cottages around a quadrangle.

The judges comments were:

'This modest scheme benefits from close attention to detail both internally and externally.......the development achieves a level of excellence above the normal standards for a non-listed building'.
